Going Global

And then Cannes happened to Pakistan….
Uzma Mazhar

Glitz, glamour, the famed red carpet, who wore what, the look and that head turning walk, come May and it all, happens at Cannes the French Riviera. It is magical!

However this year ‘The 71st Cannes Film Festival’ in France was more so magical for Pakistan. A debut happened that not only created frenzy in Pakistan but took us to a whole new level of excitement. The very beautiful actor and L’Oréal Paris Pakistan’s Hair Care Spokesperson Mahira Khan represented the brand at Cannes Film Festival on 15th May 2018.

Coined a historic moment for Pakistan as Mahira Khan becomes the first Pakistani spokeswoman to represent the brand at cinema's grandest international film festival. Taking a pause from our excitement we at This Fortnight in Pakistan say it was indeed a historic moment. Mahira Khan not only stood tall among the glitterati from Hollywood, Bollywood and the leading ladies of L’Oréal Paris (21st year as the Official Partner of the Cannes Film Festival) but what caught our attention was her minimalistic approach to dressing and overall look she was an epitome of grace and subtle chic.

Upon her return giving an interview to a local English Daily talking about her sentiments of creating history Mahira said, “I realized that there are certain things that God gives to you and they are amazing. They make you feel so grateful. I could have never imagined how it would feel. It was amazing. I felt so empowered and strong. That feeling that people had my back! I didn’t know what would happen and if they would even call out my name. Then I heard, ‘Mahira Khan from Pakistan’. I can’t explain that feeling. In Pakistan I’m Mahira Khan but when I leave this country my first name is ‘Mahira Khan’ and my second name is ‘From Pakistan’.”

Indeed ‘Mahira Khan from Pakistan’ we at TFIP are SO, SO proud of you and here’s giving a big shout out to Team L’Oréal Pakistan as well. The debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, 2018 simply rocked. Looking forward to more appearances and Pakistan’s representation at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in the years to come.

During her three days at Cannes Film Festival, Mahira was introduced to the coveted L’Oréal Paris global Makeup and Hair Styling team of Stephane Lancien and visited the L’Oréal Paris studio in Cannes to shoot video segments for the global giant. She also attended photo calls at the iconic Martinez Beach in Cannes as well as official beauty portraits by renowned French photographer Flavien Prioreau and conducted interviews with global media news outlets.

On her last day at the festival, Mahira Khan featured in “The Worth It Show” broadcast by L’Oréal Paris which marks a powerful moment during the festival to bring women's voices to all and unveil the ordinary women behind the actors, with their stories, their triumphs and the obstacles on the way.
